Solution for airport runoff water

BIO-AER is an advanced technology designed to treat runoff water contaminated by de-icing products and hydrocarbons, ensuring fast and efficient depollution.

BIO-AER: an effective and natural response

Developed by Idrabel, BIO-AER is a biological product based on a biofixation technology: selected microorganisms, effective even at low temperatures, are fixed onto a natural mineral support that enhances their efficiency and stability.
This process enables the rapid biodegradation of glycols, acetates, formates and hydrocarbons without any need for additional aeration or chemical additives.

Biological process

The microorganisms contained in the product, placed in a dormant state (spores or vegetative form), reactivate upon contact with water. In an aerobic environment, these bacteria degrade organic matter without producing odors and help maintain a healthy biological balance in the receiving medium.

Environmental and technical benefits

✅ Non-toxic product with no negative impact on facilities or the environment
✅ Effective even at low temperatures and low oxygen levels
✅ Eliminates odors and prevents foam formation

Composition and operating mode

The product contains:

  • Specific non-pathogenic bacterial strains

  • Porous mineral supports acting as pH buffers and protective carriers

  • A blend of trace elements to support bacterial activity

It comes in powder form (with a controlled particle size) and is dosed according to the technical department’s recommendations.

Implementation

A fast and controlled implementation delivering long-lasting results within the first few weeks

Step 1

Runoff water analysis

Step 2

Treatment through application in retention basins

Step 3

Monitoring of critical parameters (COD, dissolved oxygen, pH, N, P)

Step 4

Validation of results by independent laboratories
